A magazine for the long story

Bayt tells the history of science in the Islamic world: the scholars, their instruments and the libraries that kept their work. We publish slowly, check our sources, and say plainly where historians disagree.

Stories appear in English, and some in Arabic. Each is free to read, with no ads and no tracking. If you spot a mistake, write to letters@bayt.example and we will correct it in the open.
