Daylight for a lecture hall
Re-lighting a college lecture hall with daylight: screens that cut glare and bring light deeper into the room.
The challenge
The hall was too bright by the windows and too dark at the back, so lights stayed on all day.
Our approach
- Modeled the sun through the year to find where light was wasted.
- Designed pierced screens whose pattern opens wider at the top to throw light to the back of the room.
The outcome
The lights stay off for most of the teaching day, and nobody squints by the windows.
